Fire Barriers For Spray Foam

Canadian building code requires foam to be covered with
an approved fire barrier.

Fire Barriers For Spray Foam

By code spray foam has to covered by an approved thermal barrier(fire barrier), in Canada there is no such a thing as fireproof foam. Spray foam has to be covered by a secondary approved product such as drywall, plywood, osb or if those aren't viable options then an approved thermal barrier spray can be used. At RRSO we offer several different thermal barrier options to protect spray foam depending on the needs and specifications of the project. We are experienced in application of various CCMC approved spray applied thermal barrier products like DC315, Monokote-z3306 and ADFire 7TB.

DC315 is a intumescent coating. Working in tandem with the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) and the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) DC315 has achieved a CCMC Evaluation Report validating DC315 as an equal to gypsum board alternative fire protection for SPF in Canada.

Monokote Z-3306 and ADFire 7-TB are spray applied CCMC approved cementitious thermal barriers specifically formulated for application over spray foam insulation.
